I decided against designing it in WordPress which is what I and most people build websites in. It’s a Content Management System (CMS) that’s pretty easy to handle HOWEVER can be very annoying to customise. You tend to get a lot of excess code, compartments and areas you don’t need. It’s far easier to work from a blank canvass than whittle down a large piece of work to get what you want from it.
I used Microsoft Notepad and Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 to build this essentially. Using FileZilla (FTP client) to upload the files through FTP (File to Protocol program – uploads files online) to the webhost.
Here’s the actual URL it’s hosted on right now.
Overall I think it looks great so far and the colour scheme is inspired by the Kwik Cricket logo and the children’s website but FAR more simpler. Easier for children to navigate around. It’s going to have the Flash Quiz designed by Beth on it but the central focus is the video for the entire site. I’ve made the website focus on the video as much as possible which I think turned out well.
