So after some initial paper prototypes on graph paper after the logo research I undertook. These are the results below.
I personally think against the brief Martin gave me in our meeting the signature logo in the top left is best suited for the website. I have queried the client regarding it but I’m still awaiting a response. Luckily the logo is something I can add towards the end and is not vital in the early stages of the work.
The blockier stencil style typographic logo’s on the right with piano keys on them are interesting plays on his name but they just don’t fit the style of website the client wants. The client wants a simple, classy and minimalistic aesthetic.
This version of the sketches is to show what it would look like if I had outlined it with my fine line ink pens. I believe this version in black and white adds more definition to the logo than a pencil outline can give.
Overall I think aesthetically and against the clients brief the top left signature typographic logo works the best. That is the logo I will use on the website and is the logo I will mock up going forward. I will however put this prototype forward for feedback form my peers and use that feedback to help me decide which logo style to use.
